Frequently Asked Questions

  • When do I get my content?

    This course officially starts on August 31, and each month we will open up 4-5 new units. We will roll out content through Nov 1.

  • What does The Creative Core include?

    16 themed "weeks" or Units of content, each with 7 lessons: Art lessons, Audio Story Time, and printable PDF lessons in creative writing, movement, crafts, prompts, S.T.E.M. and food. You'll also get a book list with suggested titles that go with the week's theme, as well as a master supply list for the entire unit. Each week is about 20 pages of printable content, 15 min of video and 15 min of audio.

  • What ages is this for?

    Creative Core is designed for ages 4-10, but what makes the CC unique is that each lesson has suggestions for how to level up, or level down, based on your child's age or ability. These lessons are intended to be useful for parents with little kids AND older kids. We know that having activities that cater to the whole family is key!

  • How long does each lesson last?

    Each lesson takes 30-60 minutes but is intended to inspire hours of creativity. Story Time is approx. 15 minutes of listening and Art Lessons are approx. 15 minutes. We suggest setting aside at least 3 hours a week for the Creative Core...but of course, you can use the projects and lessons however you like!

  • Will I have to buy a tons of supplies?

    NO! We're busy parents too, and the goal here is for kids to be CREATIVE ... not rely on a stocked craft closet. Each lesson is designed to use common household items, or none at all! Pencils, paper, glue, scissors and cardstock will be helpful. And a printer to print out the paper crafts and prompt pages. Each week comes with a supply list that you can glance over and make sure you're prepared. But we keep it simple!

  • How long will I have access to my course?

    Forever! Once you've purchased, you will have access to the content for as long as you need it. All PDF content is downloadable as well!

  • What if I don't want to use these each week?

    No problem! We will be releasing 4-5 units at a time all semester, and you can pick and choose your activities how ever you'd like!

  • Is this content the same as your other courses?

    No! Creative Core is completely new! New projects, activities, lessons, and exercises. And...it includes content we've never had: Creative writing, S.T.E.M., Movement, Food and Story Time!

  • Is this just busy work and activities I can just find on pinterest?

    No. The Creative Core was created because as parents and educators, we tried to find lessons in "creative education" and found nothing suitable for young children. These lessons aren't just to keep little hands busy...they are strategically designed by professional creative educators to increase curiosity, independent thinking, problem-solving skills and creative confidence. The goal is to develop the critical skill of creativity in the child, with a focus on the PROCESS of creation, and not the perfect finished product.

Sarah Jane Wright

Sarah Jane, co-founder of Raising Wonder, is a children's book author, illustrator and fabric designer. Her illustrations and designs have spanned the globe in books, textiles, prints and creative projects for kids. Her professional background also includes the performing arts as an actor, singer, voice teacher, children's theater director and university instructor. She and her husband Kenneth are founders of Raising Wonder, and they have 4 children. Sarah Jane teaches the art lessons, designs the crafts, prompts, and illustrations, and directs the curriculum at The Creative Core.

Kenneth Wright

Kenneth, co-founder of Raising Wonder, is a children's book author, school teacher, actor, and doctoral student in the field of creativity in education. With over 20 years of acting, directing, dancing, and teaching kids (among many other talents), he brings his storytelling brilliance to Raising Wonder and is the genius behind Story Time and the foundational principles in The Creative Core. He is a true renaissance man and teaches his 4 kids (alongside Sarah Jane) that they can learn anything.

Ann Graham

Ann brings her experience in education and creative movement to The Creative Core. She is passionate about the performing arts, writing, reading, and most importantly, fostering a love of learning in children, including her own 4. She writes our creative movement, food, and STEM curriculum.

Megan Harr

Megan is a former English teacher, mother of 3 boys, and founder of The Many Little Joys – a blog with ready resources and creative activities for parents with young kids. She is passionate about hands-on learning and writes our STEM, food, and creative writing curriculum.

Abigail Zeigler

Abigail is our graphic designer at Raising Wonder. With her background in art education and design, she brings her fresh ideas and skills to The Raising Wonder team. She loves kids, children's literature and crafting and is passionate about creative play in childhood.
